poet trees

perfectly imperfect chalked words ‘Save Lives Here’
directs the potential poorly towards
poets who wait, patiently
you call, grounded by nature,
coaxing us
through elephant-like tree limbs
where the light does not reach
poet trees are created
parallax perspective
where we stand
entangled sky, cathedral of chlorophyll
where you stand
pierced sky, urban sprawl

abyssal breath
emboss leaves with whispered words
poets make small body movements, twitches
unintended happens
twist, turns
poets swirl into an
ouroboros throng of
anxiety pall
pull in thin air
push against gradient
persevere to treacherous summit
euphoria of near success
